Hi, and welcome to Think Beyond the Nest. We are a husband and wife team who saw a need for a blog geared to both men and women, especially those who find themselves in this awesome time of life. We think we are in a real sweet spot. We’ve somehow managed to raise two boys who are now leading successful lives of their own. We are also very involved in the lives of our own parents and find that to be very rewarding. But, we now have more time to ourselves to explore each other and the world around us. We thought sharing some of things we’re doing, both for women and men, might be interesting. So, while the nest might be literally empty, we’re finding it’s anything but! We are choosing to live life beyond the nest. We hope you enjoy our blog and please join us as you also “think beyond the nest.”
Lailan Bressler – Beach girl. Born and raised in Hawaii, I now find myself as far away from an ocean as might be geographically possible. It’s all good. I love the mainland and have now spent more of my life here. I went to SMU in Dallas where I majored in vocal music performance. Phil and I still perform from time to time, so you might see some posts on that. I flew for Southwest Airlines for a few years, but that flight plan changed once I got married. I was proud to be a stay-at-home mom, even though I did work part time as a para-professional at our local elementary school. I now work part time as a customer service manager for a national consumer packaged goods brand. Several charitable organizations have tugged at my heart so I’m also a constant volunteer for good!
Phil Bressler – Prairie boy, who never ever thought he’d meet the love of his life from Hawaii. I was born in Kansas City, but grew up in Salina, KS (famous stop on I-70 for many a traveler) and Edmond, OK. I majored in journalism at the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk, Jayhawk) and went on to work in advertising/marketing for over thirty years. I sold my interest in the advertising agency I co-owned and am now working at another ad firm in Kansas City. I love to golf, hike, play acoustic guitar and explore new places and things!
